This week we were able to attend a very important meeting in the Bitcoin Cash space. In these meeting there were a lot of terminologies thrown out contrary to blockchain philosophy. We will not name anyone in particular obviously, due to the level of respect we have to everyone that attended “Does Bitcoin Cash Need Governance” meeting. What we will do, is to reveal some worrisome concepts that do not belong into these space (As per my personal opinion).
One of the things I heard was democracy. It was proposed, that everyone that had any involvement in Bch had the right to express their opinion and therefore to vote to express the direction that the project should go.
My answer: What?????? The whole point I got involved into the project is because I believed that the code could not be changed and that was the law. Obviously, there has to be some small decisions made. About the evolution of the project, but we cannot allow ourselves to give power to those who could impose their ideology at any moment.
I am a Libertarian, and what do I want? Simple, I want a decentralized, private, fast, secured, permission-less currency that can provide my business with financial freedom to interact with anyone anywhere without the fear that any government will be able to censor me.
There was a few people in the meeting that expressed the ridiculousness of the situation that we are going through right now in BCH (I completely agree with them), due to the fact that there are some devs that are trying to get 8% from all the transactions because they say is the only way to fund the project.
I call that bullshit! Let me tell you something, it is ok to be wrong, it is ok to be greedy, and is definitely ok to be an asshole (as some people has demonstrated to be lately diminishing the power of the end-user in these project). Thank God in the Bitcoin Cash Community we do not censor anyone like they do in r/Bitcoin. Let’s be honest, I am not a Developer, I am not an Engineer, I am not a Programmer, you want to know who I am? I am someone that found the path to financial freedom through crypto. I have seen the power of crypto with my friends in South America that currently live in a dictatorship. I am from Spain, too young to remember what it was like when our Dictator used to govern there, but I know how worldwide governments are behaving right now, and it smells a lot like the beginnings of the Spanish Dictatorship. The difference now is all digital. There’s no need now for soldiers on the streets to control you.
Sorry for going out of topic for a bit, this is an emotional subject for me.
What does the BCH community want?
We do not want Governance, we do not want Democracy, We do not want Votes, We do not want Registries… We want the Code, Privacy, Speed, Feeless (or almost for free transactions), security, a community, and most importantly… Decentralization. Nobody should have the power to divert or deviate the project at any time.
“The code is the law. Let’s follow it. Billions of unbanked people depend on it.”
